A Salesforce integration logo does not explain which data creates the document, which system owns status, or how failed events reconcile. Docusign, Adobe Acrobat Sign, and PandaDoc require current documentation for the proposed configuration. No integration was tested here.
Operational constraint: CRM and agreement states diverge
A seller may generate a document from account, contact, opportunity, product, and approval data. The signer email changes, signing completes, but the CRM update fails. Staff can then create another request because Salesforce still shows the old state.
Define field-level ownership for customer identity, recipient role, commercial inputs, clauses, document version, agreement identifier, send status, completion, final file, and evidence. Docusign is the broad ecosystem hypothesis; Adobe Acrobat Sign the PDF-centered route; and PandaDoc the authoring-through-acceptance option.
Reproducible mini-check
Create synthetic CRM records and generate one agreement. Correct a recipient, change an approved field, complete through test identities, delay the status event, deliver it twice, and make the CRM unavailable. Retrieve the final package through a records role.
Reconcile Salesforce, signing state, document version, and archive. Score duplicate prevention, mapping transparency, permission boundaries, failure visibility, stable identifiers, and replay safety. This check was not executed.
Exception: completion never reaches Salesforce
Suppose signing completed but the opportunity remains open. Ask how operations discovers the mismatch, stops duplicate generation, repairs status, attaches or links the correct file, and preserves the event history. A manual field edit without reconciliation is weak recovery.
Integration functionality does not establish agreement validity. Counsel must assess document eligibility, consent, intent, attribution, association, retention, exclusions, and governing law.
Review change control for mappings and templates. Modify one approved field, deploy to a test environment, verify the generated document, and roll back. Record who approves CRM schema changes and who checks their effect on active templates, historical reports, and downstream agreement evidence.
Conclusion: reconcile two systems of record
Choose the candidate whose current connector respects the written ownership map and exposes failures to named staff. The accepted integration should prove document version, transaction identifier, final evidence, status repair, and archive location—not merely a successful happy-path button.
